Nearly Thirty Years of Stone & Masonry Commissions

Since 1995, Lay-em All Masons has built on the properties of estates, corporate grounds, parks, and private residences across Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana. Every project in this portfolio was designed and built in natural stone — cut limestone, sandstone, fieldstone, cast stone, and brick — by the same craftsmen who have defined the firm's standard for nearly three decades.

Browse completed commissions below, organized by project type. Each photograph represents work built to stand for generations.

FORMAL ESTATE COURTYARD

Cut Limestone Fountain Surround

This formal courtyard commission called for a precisely dressed limestone fountain plinth, surround, and perimeter border — all hand-cut and laid in the same material to read as a single architectural element. The work integrates with the estate's existing masonry language while establishing a new focal point for the outdoor entertaining space. Materials: cut limestone. Scope: full fountain surround and courtyard border detail.

NEIGHBORHOOD ENTRANCE MONUMENT

Aiken Ridge
Stone Entry Monument

Commissioned as the defining first impression for a residential neighborhood, the Aiken Ridge entrance monument is built in cut stone with precisely dressed pilasters and integrated dimensional lettering. Designed to read as a permanent landmark, the structure balances formal proportion with the warmth of natural stone — a material choice that weathers to greater character over decades. Materials: cut stone, dressed pilasters. Scope: dual-monument entry installation.

OUTDOOR PAVILION & FIRE FEATURE

Fieldstone Fireplace Pavilion

Among the most complex outdoor structures Lay-em All Masons has completed, this covered pavilion integrates a full-scale fieldstone fireplace with a stone column and timber roof structure — creating a permanent outdoor entertaining room built entirely in natural materials. The fieldstone selection and coursing required individual stone fitting across the full chimney mass and pavilion columns. Materials: fieldstone, cut stone, timber structure. Scope: full pavilion and fireplace structure, site integration.
